VaultChain™ Platform

VaultChain™ seamlessly connects the precious metals ecosystem through a single platform that ties the ownership of physical assets to the digital management of these assets. Built on the foundation of electronic records of title, VaultChain™ provides a modern interface to existing and new market functions, from electronic trading and straight through processing to provenance and retail investment product account management.

VaultChain™ is built on the private blockchain distributed ledger technology called Corda developed by R3. While the blockchain technology itself lends to efficiency, security and transparency, the VaultChain™ platform enables Tradewind to create new hard-asset backed digital products.

Electronic Trading

VaultChain™'s flexibility allows traders to execute trades in a variety of ways. VaultChain™ supports submitting of trade details after consummation allowing traders to rely on existing voice and chat trading methods. In addition, Tradewind is currently developing request-for-quote (RFQ) functionality to provide traders additional tools for executing trades.

RFQ

Our RFQ system will provide a frontend and REST API access for requesting and responding to real-time quotes and quote requests from a selection of other participants on VaultChain™.

The inaugural products available on the Tradewind platform are VaultChain™ Gold and Silver.

The VaultChain™ products are the next generation solution for trading - and managing ownership of - physical gold and silver vaulted with the Royal Canadian Mint.

Our Leadership

Founded in 2016, Tradewind is managed by a team of professionals with extensive experience in electronic trading, precious metals investment management, market operations and blockchain technology.

Management Team

Michael is the CEO of Tradewind Markets. With over 20 years in the industry, Michael previously held multiple leadership positions at J.P. Morgan, including Global Head of Agency Collateral Management, Global Head of Securities Clearance, Head of Japan Trustee business, and was a board member of J.P. Morgan Trust Bank Japan, Ltd. While at J.P Morgan, Michael focused on enabling banks, broker-dealers, asset managers, corporations, and insurers to effectively manage collateral cross repurchase agreements, securities loans, and derivatives trades. Michael is experienced in market infrastructure across securities markets, online brokerage, and leadership of complex businesses. Michael earned his Master’s of Business Administration from New York University, and a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Language and Linguistics from Georgetown University.
Didier brings 30 years of experience in the field of information technology as well as data security. Previously, he set up information security structures and frameworks at several fintech startups. At SunGard Financial Services he was responsible for the security and compliance for most of the division. His credentials and certifications include an MBA in Management Science, a Masters degree in Finance, CISSP, CISM, CISA and CEH.
Ryan is the Head of Human Resources at Tradewind Markets. She is an experienced human resources leader with a passion for hiring and developing fast-growing, talented teams. Ryan has spent her career recruiting and developing talent for both large financial services firms and technology startups. Most recently, Ryan managed the Graduate Talent Program at UBS where she lead recruitment and development initiatives from the ground up overseeing a rotational program for 50 new hires. Ryan received her B.S. in Business and Technology Management from New York University’s Tandon School of Engineering with a concentration in Finance.
Kevin has significant experience in the brokerage and investment management industry, with a strong background in commodity & hedge fund based investing. Before joining Tradewind, Kevin was Founder and Managing Principal of Hadrian Partners, Ltd. – a New York based Commodity Trading Advisor specializing in Macro, Managed Futures and resource-based investing. Prior to Hadrian, Kevin was Managing Director and Head of Sales of R.J.O’Brien & Associates New York Institutional Sales Division. Formerly, Kevin held senior sales management positions at M.F. Global and Refco, Inc. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Dayton.
Wes leads Tradewind’s marketing strategy, brand, and public relations. Wes is a seasoned marketer with experience in public relations, brand management, event, go-to-market plans, and ensuring messaging is consistent. He has been active in the emerging business technology community for several years and frequently speaks at industry events. Prior to joining Tradewind, Wes focused on Technology Marketing at BNY Mellon helping bring their digital transformation to life. Prior to BNY Mellon, Wes worked at JP Morgan within their Private Bank’s Mortgage Advisory Practice, providing customized mortgage lending solutions to high-profile clients across industries.
Jose Maria is the Head of the Client Insights and Operations at Tradewind Markets, where he manages the experience and onboarding process of Tradewind’s existing and potential clients. As part of this role, Jose collects and analyzes client feedback in order to evolve business metrics and develop actionable value-adding enhancements that meet client needs. Before becoming Head of Client Insights and Operations, Jose worked as a product manager at Tradewind for over three years, where he was responsible for designing and launching the Tradewind Ledger and VaultChain Gold and Silver products, as well as ORIGINS and RFQ trading capabilities. Prior to his roles at Tradewind, Jose worked at J.P. Morgan for over ten years as an executive director within the Global Clearing business division, which encompassed Futures & Options and OTC Clearing. While at J.P. Morgan, he held multiple roles across client management and product development. Jose received his B.A. in Economics from the University of Buffalo.
Greg is Head of Product Management and is responsible for overseeing end-to-end product management while working across all teams to translate client and market needs into a clear product strategy. Greg received his BA in Political Science from Amherst College and focused his early career on law, first as a paralegal at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, and subsequently as a compliance analyst at Ellington Management Group, an investment and advisory firm. After developing his interest in software and technology at Ellington, Greg shifted his professional focus to FinTech and attended Yale University, where he obtained his MBA, and further developed a background in software, business and technology.

Board of Directors

Blake was the founder and CEO of DLJdirect, one of the first and largest online brokerage firms. He took the company public in 1999 and sold it to BMO in 2002. He led the expansion of the firm with ventures in London, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Dubai and Chennai. Mr. Darcy also formed a technology firm, iNautix, that provided web-based technology solutions to brokerage firms and created the largest brokerage workstation platform in the US. Blake was also the founder and CEO of a multi-billion dollar asset management firm. He now serves on the boards of startup firms.
Brad was one of the co-founders of IEX in 2012 after their team uncovered ways that the existing stock exchanges were selling high speed technology and data to the detriment of long-term investors. Brad and his team’s pursuit of a fairer market has been chronicled in Michael Lewis’ book Flash Boys, as well as in outlets ranging from 60 Minutes to the New York Times Magazine and Bloomberg Markets. Brad is the former head risk trader and head of electronic trading for RBC Capital Markets.

Arthur is Senior Managing Director and General Counsel at Sprott Inc. He also serves as General Counsel at Sprott Resource Holdings Inc. and is on the Board of Directors of Corsa Coal Corp. Before joining Sprott, Mr. Arthur was an associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP and McCarthy Tétrault LLP. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Masters in Business Administration from Osgoode Hall Law School and the Schulich School of Business.
Matt started his investing career at Bain Capital private equity in 1995, having worked previously at Bain & Company. In 2000, Matt founded Village Ventures, which he ran for 12 years and where he focused on early-stage fintech investing. In 2012 he rejoined Bain Capital Ventures to run their financial technology and services investment portfolio.
Sara is the CFO of IEX Group which operates the Investors Exchange, an independent U.S. stock exchange whose mission is to build fairer markets. Sara leads IEX’s finance and corporate development efforts, including leading IEX Ventures with an eye toward strategically incubating new technology businesses. Prior to joining IEX, Sara held several executive positions at Morgan Stanley, where she was a member of the firm’s Management Committee and the Chief Operating Officer for the Wealth Management division.
